43rd AGM
The Club held its 43rd Annual General Meeting on Sunday 18th March. In all, 40 members attended.
Club Vice President John Scollin presided. Treasurer Stephen Brown gave his report and y
ear to date (March 2017 to March 2018) compared to last year the Club has a drop in membership from 98 to 83 (80 to 65 in full/pro rata) and a decline in badge fee payers from 24 to 18.
For 2017, the Club essentially broke even (a loss of just $103 compared to a loss of $2,555 for 2016). The Club gratefully received around $6,000 in donations which essentially made the difference between a profit and loss.
John Scollin then gave the Committee report updating the assembled on 2017’s key issues – renovations, badge team performance, events, and club championships results. During this, coach Paul McNamara presented the performance of PTA’s younger players across various NSW and national competitions.
Ian Taylor then communicated the progress made to date and the intended next steps with respect to the Club’s redevelopment plans. This latter issue generated much discussion and debate on the nature of the plans, the financial models, and the likely implications on the Club’s future as well as local community benefits and impact.
Former Club President, David Strevens, moved that the following resolution be voted on
“..the Committee be required to obtain the approval of the members of the Club prior to commencing the conversion of the 4 existing lawn tennis courts (i.e. the grass courts) to synthetic lawn courts after the final costing, council approval and bank loan approval have been obtained…” By a show of hands, the resolution above was carried.

Further Donations
Furthermore, the Club would also like to thank members who have contributed various electric goods and articles to the club of late (including some exotic liquors for the bar’s cocktail collection.)

So, if  members are ‘ de-cluttering’ and have some of those esoteric beverages that seemed like a good idea at the time but have rested in the cupboard ever since or just items (e.g. utensils, tools, kitchen appliances etc.) that they are planning to dispose of but which are still, we politely emphasise, in good working order and would be of benefit to the Club please let any Committee member know and if appropriate we’ll try to find a place for them.
