Clubhouse Renovations
Above Left – New Flooring, Above Right – as it was in June 2017
We have now come nearly to the end of our renovations with the refurbishment and polishing of the wooden floors. I think that you will all agree that the Clubhouse is now looking much more presentable and we held our first function there on Saturday 28th October, the 2017 Quiz Night (see below). We are just waiting for the delivery of some new cupboards and cabinets, after which we can bring the large fridge back down. Once again, many thanks to Ian Taylor for not only overseeing but also for conducting much of the work.
Ruth Anstice – Many Thanks
Left- Ruth receives the Mixed Doubles Trophy in 2016, Right – L-R, Di Shirling, Guy Sedger, RUTH ANSTICE, Peter Milharcic
We are sad to announce that due to a lingering injury Ruth Anstice, Ladies Singles Champion for 2007, will be hanging up her racquet and transition from a playing to a house member. Ruth has graced the courts for many years and I am sure you are all familiar with her elegant style of play. However, you may not be aware of the considerable role Ruth has played in the ongoing welfare and running of the Club. She was a Committee Member and Honorary Secretary for many years. But perhaps her most important contribution was in the area of submitting and winning grant approvals from Council, State, and other official bodies. Many of the improvements around the Club today are as a result of the hours Ruth spent completing forms, attaching supporting documents and attending hearings. So, on behalf of all the members, the Committee extends their deepest gratitude to Ruth and thanks her for the significant contribution she has made to the Club and its members.
Mosman 1 Edged by Hunter Hill & Tennis Valley Just Too Strong for Mosman 3 in Badge Finals
Mosman 1 whose late season spurt  in form took them to the  2.3 Final, just fell 3-5 at the last hurdle to Hunters Hill. But congratulations to the squad – Shen Chiu, Guy Sedger, Luke Keller, Gareth Rossiter, Joao Lourenco, Kadjann Arulnesan, and Thiago Riemers
Mosman 3, 2.6,  also went down 6-2 to a very strong (and considerably younger) Tennis Valley Team. Nevertheless, well done to Kevin Alker, David Hanson, Richard Cook, Angelo Yan, David Strevens, Russell Thomas, and David McCallum for reaching the final
Captain’s v. President’s Round Robin
The assembled throng enjoy a well-deserved lunch and (R) Qi Xiang toasts her winning team
The Captain’s v. President’s Round Robin was successfully attended by 32 members and friends. Sadly, Luke Keller was struck down by flu and unable to play so the Captain’s side (under the guidance of Peter Milharcic) prevailed 108-92 on the day
Quiz Night Goes to Sudden Death Play Off
L-Spot Check the Winners on the Night R-How the scores unfolded

The 2017 MLTC Quiz Champions are Richard Brown’s Spot Check. After finishing in the lower ranks for the past 4 years, Richard and his cohort finally prevailed after and extra time ‘penalty shoot out’ they won 5-4. As the scoreboard shows the four teams were neck and neck until round 8 when Spot Check and Tony’s (Nix) Cronies pulled ahead. After 10 rounds, the latter two finished with 80 points apiece. It was heartbreak again for 2015 winner Tony Nix, whose team has now lost two other of the 5 contests in extra time shoot outs (although the first one was against a team with an extra player). Once again our thanks to quizmasters David and Claire Stewart-Hunter for leading an entertaining and educational evening
